Piccoli pleased with rail talks

18 Aug, 2010 08:57 PM
PACIFIC National and ASCIANO representatives have met with Member for Murrumbidgee Adrian Piccoli over the Junee rail depot.

After the talks, Mr Piccoli said he was hopeful the freight company would maintain Junee jobs in the long term.

“I have again taken the chance to put the drivers’ case to ASCIANO and they have been good enough to hear me out on behalf of the drivers and on behalf of the community,” he said.

“I am pleased with the reception I was given by ASCIANO representatives and I hope this culminates in a decision to keep Junee rail jobs.”

Pacific National announced it “deferred” its decision to cut jobs in Junee in light of further planning on alternative models of operation.
