New leaders for Lions club board

17 Jun, 2010 10:21 AM
A NEW board for the Junee Lions Club has been inducted at the club’s annual changeover dinner.

On the night outgoing president Denis Sullivan passed the baton on to 2010-2011 president Brian Curry.

John Hillam was named secretary, Steve Gardner was named treasurer and first and second vice-president was presented to Peter Logan and Danny Logan respectively.

The club has donated $13,000 to the community for a number of projects, including a special needs chair for Junee Hospital, a new barbecue at Memorial Park, Junee Swimming Club assistance, Junee schools presentations, Lions Youth of the Year Quest, Lions International Foundation, and donations to spinal, cord blood, Save Sights and prostate cancer charities.

The club has already committed to providing a second special needs bed to the Junee Hospital at a cost of $2500 and a new second barbecue and cover for Memorial Park in the new financial year.

The donations were made possible through the monthly Lions’ paper drive, drum muster, sales of cakes and mints and other donations.
