THOSE living between Junee and Eurongilly are set to benefit from the first stage of electricity supply upgrades by the end of the month.
Country Energy crews are currently working to replace 12 kilometres of power lines between Junee and Wantiool, which will see a doubling of the areas electricity supply, improved reliability and quality.
With many customers already experiencing planned interruptions along the lines, regional general manager David Nardi said the Junee team, coupled with crews from Wagga and Coolamon, are working to ensure the work is completed as safely and as quickly as possible.
“We are always finding better ways to upgrade our network – that’s why we’re replacing the existing copper power lines with thicker aluminium cable which is proven to be stronger, lighter and more reliable.”
Planned interruptions, with the longest scheduled for five-and-a-half hours, have been scheduled until the expected completion date of Sunday, March 28, with all affected customers notified by mail.
“A series of power supply interruptions will be required so our field crews can carry out the upgrades as quickly and safely as possible.”
“We thank customers for their patience during this time,” Mr Nardi said.
Once completed the work will be a part of a $1 million project to replace 23 kilometres of power lines.
Once crews have completed the lines, they will replace 15 kilometres of power lines between Junee and Harefield, before beginning the second stage of work along the Junee to Wantiool lines.
