Junee Road in the firing line

12 Jan, 2012 06:30 AM
RESIDENTS in Temora are petitioning Temora Shire Council to change the name of one of the roads leading into town.

The Junee Road leads off from the Goldenfields Way and represents less than a kilometre of tarmac.

Residents highlighted that the Junee Road doesn’t begin from Junee, but rather leads to Wagga through Old Junee.

Temora resident Douglas Broad collected 20 signatures from residents who are keen to see the name changed

“For many years, visitors to our town have had difficulty finding this road, with the position becoming increasingly difficult as GPS devices are not recognising the address,” Mr Broad said.

The letter written by Mr Broad suggests Goldenfields Way be extended to from ‘Five Ways’ where Hoskins Street begins.

A council committee raised the issue of the names of Junee Road and Barmedman Road with a report to be prepared by staff.
