Junee high to celebrate milestone

11 Mar, 2010 10:08 AM
IT was on May 5, 1961 that Junee High School officially opened, which means next year the school will be turning the big five-o.

With 50 years soon to be under its belt, Junee High School is looking for people who are interested in joining a planning committee to help organise the celebrations.

While the date of March 7, 2011 has been locked in, plans are still in the pipeline as to how to best celebrate the milestone.

The P&C is calling on those who may be interested in helping to plan the celebrations to become part of the core committee.

Junee High School administration assistant Shirley Hart said the school has seen a lot of change in its 50-year history with alterations to buildings and the introduction of the Junee plan in the 1970s which saw classes integrate modern subjects such as art, craft, music and mass media into the curriculum.

If you are interested on being a part of the committee, contact Leonie Cooper on 6924 2205.
