IT’S no secret The Nationals’ Michael McCormack has taken the federal seat of Riverina in a clean sweep across the electorate.
Like many other Riverina polling booths, Junee backed the same party as it has in previous elections to bring in Kay Hull’s successor.
The Nationals took 41.8 per cent of Junee Shire’s votes, compared to Labor’s Robyn Hakelis, who came away with 30 per cent.
Liberal candidate Andrew Negline accounted for 14.3 per cent of votes, while Independent Matthew Hogg pulled just 4.5 per cent at the ballot.
Prior to the election, Mr McCormack said be was confident of winning the Junee booths believing it was an important town for The Nationals to win.
Meanwhile, Junee farmer and Liberal senator Bill Heffernan has secured his position in the senate.
He will take one of the six senate positions in NSW after being voted in from second position on the Liberals/Nationals ticket.
