THE long-time dreams of a Junee resident were fulfilled last week after finally having the chance to see one of her favourite artists in concert.
Cooinda Court resident Elsie Broadhead had always dreamed of watching Julie Anthony perform live, but when the opportunities arose something always popped up.
“It was something I had always wanted to see, but every time she came to Wollongong or Sydney (where I was living) I missed her.”
As a part of NSW Senior Week, Junee Shire Council took 30 residents to the Wagga Civic Theatre to see Ms Anthony in concert which proved to be a delight for everyone who attended, but none more so than Mrs Broadhead.
“It was beautiful. She did a lot of different songs, but it was all done properly.”
Having only old records of Ms Anthony, but no record player, Mrs Broadhead said it was a life-long dream which she was thrilled to have the opportunity to take part in.
Fellow Cooinda Court resident Beryl Ford said the concert lived up to everyone’s expectations.
In keeping up with Seniors Week, the residents of Cooinda Court will continue their eventful week by taking part in the Senior Week luncheon at the Ex-Services Club today.
The week will end with a Heart Move community exercise class at the Junee Junction Recreation and Aquatic Centre on Friday and a closing barbecue at the Senior Citizen’s Hall on Saturday.
