Group to put reunion on track

16 Feb, 2012 06:00 AM
A GROUP of former railway employees has formed a committee with the aim of planning a reunion for 2012.

The Junee rail employees reunion is planned for the long weekend in June with an invitation extended to all past and present employees.

Ron Waugh, Lyn Neal, Lyn Puttock and Craig Duncan are behind the move to bring together as many former railway workers as possible to help preserve Junee’s rich rail heritage.

The loco reunion in 2007, which up to 120 people attended, was the last time a reunion was held for former railway workers in Junee.

Mr Waugh said the reunion planned for 2012 was not just for drivers, but also for perway workers such as fettlers and carpenters.

While events for the June long weekend are yet to be set in stone, the committee is also looking for help in tracking down any former railway employees who may have left the area.

Anyone wishing to become involved with the planning of the reunion can contact Ron Waugh on 6924 2246.
