TWO Junee women have successfully completed their nursing qualifications through the Riverina Institute of TAFE.
Gradutating last month, Fiona Herbert and Bianca Guthrie received their dipolmas and have already begun putting their new skills to work.
The 18-month course includes blocks of theory and study in Cootamundra before both Mrs Herbert and Ms Guthrie were dispatched to anywhere in the Murrumbidgee Local Health District (MLHD) for practical work.
Mrs Herbert said it was a tough juggling act to be raising two young daughters with her husband while also balancing part-time work and study.
Ms Guthrie has already began working at the Forrest Centre in Wagga while Mrs Herbert has been working locally at the Junee Multi-Purpose Centre.
“It’s good to be able to put your skills into practice ... there’s nothing like hands-on experience,” Mrs Herbert said.
Despite having both achieved a new qualifications, learning will continue for both women who will need to complete
20 hours of study each year – something all nurses will need to complete to ensure they can provide the best healthcare for patients.
