Ghost hunters reveal findings

21 Jan, 2010 09:34 AM
DISEMBODIED voices, paranormal presences and incidents which could not be explained – these are the eerie results of a paranormal investigation at Junee’s Monte Cristo.

Investigations by a band of American ghost hunters from the sci-fi television series, Ghost Hunters International, have revealed their firm belief the famous homestead is indeed one of Australia’s most haunted private residences.

On the show’s official website a synopsis has revealed part of its findings during an overnight visit in July last year.

It states sensitive voice recordings in the team’s analysis phase of video evidence picked up a voice saying “pick me” and another saying “get out”.

During the team’s overnight investigation inside the home, a number of the hunters stated they heard female voices, sensed a presence in the dining room and heard a window rattling in a bedroom, which they were unable to link to any source.

So far the response from the episode, which aired in the US last week, has seen emails pouring in to Monte Cristo owners Reg and Olive Ryan.

“We’ve had emails from America already from people saying they had seen the show and they like the house and hope to get out to see us,” Mr Ryan said.

And, of course, to experience the ghosts who reside there.

Mr Ryan said he believed one of the voices the ghost hunters heard was that of Mrs Crawley in the dining room ordering the investigators to leave.

“We’ve had Mrs Crawley order people to get out,” he said. "She would have been one of them.”

He believes the other voice was that of the boy who was chained up for 30 years inside the old caretaker’s building, who said “pick me” when the hunters asked if any presence in the room would like to communicate.

While there may be paranormal sceptics, the show will no doubt leave much to be discussed about the homestead’s past.
