THE case against a woman allegedly caught trying to smuggle heroin into the Junee Correctional Centre has been adjourned pending information as to the amount of the drug she was allegedly carrying and legal advice.
Cassandra Frappell, 24, of Bowral, faced Junee Local Court on Thursday charged with supplying and possessing a prohibited drug and bringing a small quantity of drugs into a detention centre.
Magistrate Anthony Murray questioned the charges stating the amount of heroin allegedly found on Frappell could be considered a strictly indictable offence, which cannot be dealt with at Junee Local Court.
Prosecutor Sergeant Wally Ball said the drug had been sent away for testing, but had not been processed.
It is alleged the woman, who had booked in to visit her fiance, was stopped for a random search by corrections officers when she was asked if she was carrying any illegal drugs on her.
Police said she replied yes, before reaching into her bra to reveal three small balloons containing heroin.
A search of her handbag allegedly produced two more balloons filled with the substance.
Frappell has not yet entered a plea to the charges.
The case has been adjourned to May 6.
