ORGANISERS of the Wind In The Roundhouse breathed a sigh of relief on Saturday as the clouds disappeared to provide a picture-perfect evening.
The annual concert went off without a hitch, or drop of rain, on Saturday night, with more than 150 people turning out to see a steller line-up of performances.
Two performers in particular blew the crowd away
with their spectaular musicianship, according to
vice-president of the arts council Lola Commins.
“There were two performers actually. Ashlee McCallum on the recorder ... and can she make a recorder sing.
“You could see why she has had solo performances at the Opera House.”
Mrs Commins said one person outside the Roundhouse, who hadn’t seen who was playing, made comment on the wonderful sound made by the flute player.
She said the person didn’t believe her when she said it was a young girl on a recorder, clearly astounded by the music.
Tenor Paul McGeown also made a big impression on the crowd.
“His voice, his talent. He sang some opera arias and took the time to explain the history of the arias for the audience.”
Both performers were a part of the headline act for the evening, Pasticcio.
Mrs Commins said the arts council would like to thank all those who participated in making the evening a success including Junee Rotary Club, the Roundhouse Museum, managers and staff at the Junee Railway Workshop and the GEO Group.
