TWO of Junee’s youth organisations have recieved donations from the IGA Community Chest.
Junee Supa IGA has donated $2868.71 each to both the 1st Junee Scout Group and Junee Little Athletics.
Community Chest branded products sold in the Supa IGA, operated by the Junee District Co-Op Society, contribute to the Chest and each year the sum total of the donations are given to community organisations.
The funds will make a big difference to both the Scout group and the athletics club with both planning on investing in equipment and infrastructure to benefit members.
Leader in charge of Junee Cub Scouts, Jackie Starr, said the funds would be used to repair the doors of the scout hall bringing it into line with the latest standards.
Small indoor camps will be able to be held in the hall after the new doors are installed.
Janet Howell from Junee Little Athletics said the club would buy new equipment – which normally relies on other clubs to supply the shortfall when holding carnivals in Junee.
“We are passionate about making a difference to the communities that we serve,” IGA store manager Shane Willis said.
“We are very proud as a supermarket and as an organisation to be able to play such a significant role in ensuring local groups and charities continue to prosper, and would also like to extend a huge thank you to our shoppers for their great community achievement, as it would not be possible without their support.”
