FEDERAL candidates for the seat of Riverina have hit the ground running in a last ditch effort to sway the Riverina's undecided voters.
Taking to numerous polling stations across Wagga today to meet with voters they have also lined up to cast their own votes.
The Greens David Fletcher said polls through this morning showed The Greens were in a good position.
"There have been good opinion polls out this morning for The Greens, so hopefully it translates into a swing for the Riverina," he said.
"I've done everything I can in the confines of working and family. Its been hard to juggle it all."
Voting at his local polling location Liberals candidate Andrew Negline cast his ballot paper accompanied by his wife Jacqueline.
After spending part of the morning with family, he hit the polling booths at Kooringal and Sturt Public before returning to Gumly Gumly to officially place his ballot.
"The culmination of this, six weeks of hard work, is all about to unfold in one day," he said.
Believing it will be a fight to the last vote is counted, Mr Negline said he will be watching the results with bated breath.
Independent Matthew Hogg said he believed the results will come down to a preference race.
"It's a great day for real democracy in this region. It's the first time in 30 years there has been a genuine contest," Mr Hogg said. -
Opinion poll and punters favourite The Nationals Michael McCormack said he was quietly confident about this evenings results.
"Kay Hull has done such a great job and her work resonates so well."
"I think people will stick with what they know works for them," he said.
Hoping for an increase since the last election One Nation's Craig Hesketh said voters seem confident of who they are voting for.
"A lot of people do know who they are voting for at this stage."
He said he predicts The Nationals will win the seat over their Coalition partners the Liberals followed by Labor.
However, he said he couldn't place where election dark horse Matthew Hogg will place.
Casting her vote Labor's Robyn Hakelis was full of energy pledging to remain up until results are announced.
Following her slogan to make the Riverina seat marginal, she said she was hopeful residents would put their support behind Labor.
"Hopefully not only for me, but for the Riverina because it's vital for an injection of funds," she said.
