JUNEE’S Rhythm and Rail Festival is gathering steam with former deputy prime minister Tim Fischer announced as the festival’s patron this week.
One of Australia’s best known railway enthusiasts, Mr Fischer will officially open the festival on Friday, March 2 during the grand opening to be held at the Athenium Theatre.
“It is a privilege to step up for this good cause, and the festival in Junee is building nicely due to all that is on show and available to ride,” Mr Fischer said.
With the rail aspect of the festival planned, the festival committee is looking for talented Junee locals who are interested in adding to the rhythmic atmosphere.
Buskamania will run on Saturday, March 3 and buskers will be spread around the Railway Square and around the festival’s central precinct.
The festival will also stage a talent quest for the most talented residents called “Junee’s Got Talent” and a diverse range of performers including dancers, jugglers, musicians, poets and buskers are invited to showcase their skills on the main stage.
Residents interested in busking on March 3 or the talent quest on March 4 are invited to contact Lisa Cameron from Tilma Management on 0403 193 442.
The rail navies race is also on track with businesses and locals invited to nominate teams to compete in the race.
