A change in name only

AFTER an overwhelming response to the closure of the town’s Retravision, the Junee community is being assured it will not be losing its much-loved electrical store.

Instead of trading as Retravision, Glenn and Jane Harbrow have made the decision to close Retravision’s doors on Saturday, only to reopen a new-look electrical store, under an independent buyer’s name, on Monday, August 2.

While it will no longer be known as Retravision, Mr Harbrow said the new store would continue to provide electrical products to the Junee community.

He said the decision had been a difficult due to Retravision’s long history in the town, but it was one that had to be made.

“It was a commercial decision more than anything,” he said.

“The group we’re about to join is different to work with.”

Due to an overwhelming amount of interest from the community and plenty of rumours circulating as to the store’s changeover and closure, Mr Harbrow said clarification was needed to ensure the public was aware of what was happening.

“The response has just been overwhelming,” he said. “People have become quite emotional about it, but we want to put people at ease.

“We’ve had a lot of regular and loyal customers come in, and others come in as well about it.”

There is speculation over the identity of the new buying group, with Mr Harbrow stating it was not a multi-national group such as Joyce Mayne or The Good Guys, but an independent group.

“We are very excited about this change and feel confident we will be able to better serve our customers, with some new brands and services, as well as extended trading hours being just some of the changes,” he said.

Over the coming week, the store will be transformed and refitted in time for the planned reopening.
