Stage is set for a top show

IT’S not before the big day, with the Junee District Co-Op Show opening on Saturday, October 22.

This year’s show has been sponsored by the Junee istrict Co-Op Society, which operates the Supa IGA in Broadway and the show’s committee has expressed its gratitude to local business sponsoring the event.

In 2011, the show will feature many of the regular exhibits including, but not limited to, cattle and ring events, pavilion exhibits such as needlework, cooking, horticulture, wool, art, craft, millinery and CWA exhibits.

A bushman’s rally will be held in the afternoon with a barbecue and bar open all day, the Premier Dance Studio will be running a display and for car lovers, there will be a show and shine.

Competitions for children include sand castle building, colouring-in competitions plus rock climbing and pet and animal shows.

Judging for the Showgirl competition has taken place and the winner will be annouced on the day, while entries for Miss and Master Tinytot, and divisions for junior and intermediate showgirls, to be placed on show day.

There is something for everyone at the Junee District Co-Op Show, which promises to be bigger than ever.

Six goat breeds on show

STARTED by the late Mary Moroney of Junee and now held in her honour, the show’s dairy goat section has grown from strength to strength.

Now one of the most popular goat shows in the state, Junee attracts goat entrants from as far away as Molong, Cudal and The Rock, with six breeds catered for.

Goat milk has a number of uses mostly in gourmet markets, organic milk and cheeses and is proving very popular with lactose intolerant customers.

Judging starts at 9.30am and will run through 43 sections, concluding at 12.30pm.
